Seaman Recruit
A seaman recruit has demonstrated their qualification to move on to the SEAL Assessment phase by sitting through an oral board review with HQ. They will have met all minimum mental & physical requirements to be given the opportunity to move to the basic weapons and land navigation assessment phase in which they must prove their readiness to enter BUDs.

A seaman will have fulfilled all requirements for a seaman apprentice, plus they will have attended a minimum of three formal field operations and 1 training since completing BUD/S. Petty Officer Third Class
A Petty Officer Third Class has fulfilled all requirements for the seaman, plus they will have attended an additional four operations and three trainings since completing BUD/S. As a new NCO, it is expected of all Petty Officer Third Class's to further develop their skillset within the teams and seek new training opportunities through the professional development set of courses. To be recognized at this rank, the teams are looking for active communication, strong operational capability, and dedication to the safety of their patrol and swim buddy.

Furthermore, the Petty Officer Second Class will demonstrate leadership potential and consistently achieve success in their position within the patrol.
Furthermore, it is expected of the Petty Officer Second Class to actively participate in mentoring new recruits within the unit and offer support, so they can successfully complete the BUD/S training phase. To be recognized at this rank, the teams are looking for strong operational acumen and dependability, leadership capacity, and an individual that newer members can model and look to for support. Petty Officer First Class
A Petty Officer First Class will have fulfilled all requirements and expectations for the Petty Officer Second Class, plus have completed an additional two SEAL Qualification Trainings, two unit level training's(Team Leader training strongly recommended), and ten formal operations. Furthermore, the Petty Officer First Class will have shown leadership capability and consistently proven themselves to be a critical asset to the teams. Moreover, the Petty Officer First Class will prove their dependability and active communication with the teams.
It is expected of the Petty Officer First Class to provide quality mentor-ship for all lower ranking personnel looking to further their skills and status within the teams by facilitating BUD/S level training's. Furthermore, as a staff level NCO, a Petty Officer First Class will take responsibility of at least one staff level duty within the teams involving coordination of a BUD/S training course or unit recruitment is required. To be recognized at this rank, strong mentor ship acumen will be demonstrated through clear, concise communication during field operations, strong ability to lead teams in successfully accomplishing objectives accurately and precisely, and ability to translate orders correctly and think independently.25Promotion PointsE-6SO1 -
